The New Addams Family is Inclusive to Same-Sex Parents!
Now, like a lot kids, I grew up loving The Addams Family. Of course this must have influenced me, I can be quite weird, drawn to the Gothic and the morbid, and my ultimate goal is for someone to look at me and think "plant-y, moon-y, crystal-y witch."
I can't be alone in my love for the Addams Family and their quirky relationships with each other, as there is a new move out for it. An animated, family friendly, movie coming to 2019 (you can watch the trailer here). It's not suprise they'd make another adaptation. Originally, a TV sitcom in the 1960s, then adapted into two movies in the 1990s (my favourite! Christina Ricci as Wednesday is the most pop-culture classic goth girl character there is). Then, in 2010, The Addams Family Musical came to Broadway with Nathan Lane as Gomez Addams.
Now a whole new generation fo children will grow up braiding their hair like Wednesday's. However, the trailer is already inclusive-approved by the LGBTQ community for including same-sex parent families in the opening sequence.
The opening sequence to the trailer, before delving into the Tim Burton-esque animation, features different types of families, including a gay couple and a lesbian couple.
This was greatly appreciated by the community, as this means it will be shown to an audience of children who will be shown a normalised presentation of same-sex parenting. If I had seen this as a child I'd have been so happy, growing up knowing it's normal.
