Celebrate Pide with a Party

So it's Pride, you've come out.... throw yourself a Pride/Coming Out Party like a normal person.

Honestly, I get very geeky when it comes to decorating and I was excited about the amount of rainbows my flat was about to have!

So I bought four gay Pride flags, I was debating if I should go for lesbian Pride flags, but one day I'll get one as well (I've accepted that I'm Crazy Flag Lady). I then put one on the table, as a table cloth (after taking it to Pride with me), and then the other three over our kitchen lights that we can't shut off. It dampened the light a bit, and made the rainbows glow, which was a nice effect.

Next was balloons!

We, as you can see, blew up colourful balloons (which you get cheap anywhere) and rubbed them on our clothes to stick to the ceiling, which didn't last very long, sort of as long as you'd expect... But the best part I did with the balloons was make them into a rainbow on our pinboard (and yes, I know pink isn't in the Pride flag, but still).

We made rainbow jelly shots, which I then made into a rainbow arrangement. We had skittles, as well! As they are the gayest of sweets (although a lot of sweets are rainbows - I can hear all the homophobic mothers never letting their kids near a pick 'n' mix again). We also had Flat 7's infamous punch... which was a mix of (if I can remember) dark rum, vodka, gin, sourz, wine, as well as lemonade and squash. Oh, and edible glitter.

Of course, add a cheeky strobe light and some bunting elsewhere in your flat! You can't be shy on colour at Pride.

Hope this gives some ideas on how to set up a Pride party or a Coming Out Party this June (or whenever your Pride is, as they seem to be really spread out some places).
