Lesbian Couple Beaten and Robbed After Refusing to Kiss

A lesbian couple on 30th May were on a bus travelling to Camden Town in London, when a group of teenage boys were harrassing them and trying to force the couple to kiss for their entertainment. After both were beaten, the four men stole a bag and a phone.

Melania Geymonat, 28, posted on Facebook on 5th of June:

“We must have kissed or something because these guys came after us... I don’t remember if they were already there or if they got on after us... They started behaving like hooligans, demanding that we kissed so they could enjoy watching, calling us ‘lesbians’ and describing sexual positions.”

Melania also stated how she is "tired of being taken as a sexual object" and that homophobic and violent attacks occur more often than we think.

“We have to endure verbal harassment and chauvinist, misogynistic and homophobic violence because when you stand up for yourself shit like this happens.”

The Metropolitan Police have stated that four teenage boys, aged 15 to 18, have been arrested for robbery and aggravated grevious bodily harm.

Detective Superintendent Andy Cox has released a statement on the case:

"This was a disgusting attack on two women who appear to have been picked out and targeted by a group of youths."
